CURRENT MOOD:

Anonymous asked: Don't all communities have their gatherings of fools, scoundrels, and generally unscrupulous people?

yeah, but there are things you can do to separate them from the heart of the community, like banning, shunning, mocking, or publicly executing them. Reddit’s administrators are so fixated on making their site a libertarian haven of free-speech that they’ve failed to act at worst, and dragged their feet at best, on unquestionable scum like child porn offenders and hate groups.

To me they represent the fallacy of treating all opinions as equal, letting boys be boys, the passive tolerance of any and all assholery. It creates a hostile environment with no sense of introspection.
